Surviving The Storm

A FEAR OF LIGHT AND A FEAR OF SOUND AS MY CHILDREN ARE TAKEN UNDERGROUND
IT’S NOT SO MUCH THE LIGHT AND SOUND WE FEAR, IT’S THE AFTERMATH OF IT ALL
WE FEAR THE CHANGE, WE FEAR THE UNKNOWN
THE FLASHES OF LIGHT, THE BLAST THAT FOLLOWS NOW BRINGS TREMORS WITHIN
FOR WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT WILL BE WHEN WE RISE FROM THE ASHES
A CHILD ASKS, “ARE WE AT WAR?”
I REPLY, “NO SON, IT WAS A STORM.”
